Over the Top Lemon Box

See the previous post (Orange, Lemon and Lime Boxes) for the full scoop on how to make little boxes out of citrus peels. For the piece below I went around the bend into some other zone entirely.

This little box is made of a lemon, but instead of slicing the lemon horizontally I sliced it vertically. The lemon has been painted with copper paint. The front pull and rear "hinges" are made from scraps of faux pearl jewelry. An underlying hinge of ribbon is what actually makes the thing work. The interior has been decoupaged with Chinese silver good luck paper. The box sits on a little ring of baked and painted Sculpey clay.
